Team Canada may make another change before Finland, echoes Oilers biggest problem

last night, and goaltending was a major factor in the result, just like it has for the Oilers.
Concerns raised about Team Canada goaltending echo Edmonton Oilers
In last night's game, the two goals
Jordan Binnington allowed came on simple shots off the rush.
Jake Guentzel's goal in particular was a weak five hole shot, but even Larkin's quick wrister just slipped through a gap.
If Canada got one more save on one of those goals, the game may have been tied and headed to overtime instead of being sealed by an empty net goal. Binnington did make quality saves at other points, but just one weak goal turned out to be the difference between two elite teams.
Credit to the Americans too for playing shut down defence, and
Connor Hellebuyck for his elite performance. However, it's even easier to sit back and prioritize defence after a weak early goal.
And of course, Canada's offence needed to be able to produce more than one goal in the contest to expect a win. Even so, had they prevented one more goal, they would've pushed the game to extra time with an opportunity to win. Canada also missed their top 3 defenceman.
Between two elite teams playing in a high stakes matchup, the margins for success and failure become as thin as one weak goal - a problem that the Edmonton Oilers have seen this season and in the past.
Plenty of Edmonton fans saw similarities between Canada's game and the Oilers.
After a few questionable goals against Sweden too, it may be possible Team Canada shifts to
Adin Hill to start against Team Finland in their next game.
Perhaps the
Edmonton Oilers too should take a hard look at this game, how it reflects to their playoff projections, and the impact of even one soft goal against in a high stakes game - and it leads them to upgrading their goal crease.
