Team Canada forward Brandon Hagel defended his team after fighting Team USA star Matthew Tkachuk as a part of three fights that began within the first 10 seconds of this lightning charge filled game.

After losing 3-1, Hagel spoke to reporters giving his take on the fight against his Florida Panthers rival Tkachuk.

Hagel showed his resilience during fight with Tkachuk

«I wasn't saying no,» Hagel said of the insta-fight. «Listen, I don't think he was expecting what he got from me.

I'm not backing down. I mean, a little bit of the talk was, these guys are going to take over the Canadian way. But I'm not gonna let it happen.» Brandon Hagel

The atmosphere at the Bell Centre certainly had the feel that something major was going to happen early in the game as both teams were amped up to face off one another since the last best on best tournament was back in 2016.
This, coupled with the fact that some Canadian fans were continuing to boo the star spangled banner prior to the opening faceoff which likely added fuel to the fire as both Tkachuk brothers and JT Miller took on Hagel, Sam Bennett and Colton Parayko.

Many hope for a Canada - USA rematch on Thursday in the Finals

With the Americans winning their game, this has punched their ticket to the finals and they await to see who they will face as many hope that a Canada-USA rematch will take place.
The settings will be different as they will be in TD Gardens in Boston The energy will return to the same fever pitch levels they were in Montreal.
As many have stated, the NHL and the rest of the hockey federation need to find a way to continue these games between all countries as national pride rides for bragging and for the love of the game the Four Nations face off has been quite electric over the past week.
It's a format that should remain part of the rotation of the NHL going forward as it would be the alternative to the All-Star game.
